Loose the Strapless Wedding Dress

This is a funny but true article. She discribes that strapless shimmy so well! :)

Wedding photographers gripe about strapless gowns because they look best shot from straight ahead, which is problematic, as the bride is constantly moving. "Strapless gowns should be outlawed,'' declares Meg Smith of Napa, one of the Bay Area's most sought-after wedding photographers (http://www.megsmith.com)/. "Because even the dresses by the best designers often do not fit properly. They're either too big and the bodice is like a shelf sticking out inches away from the body, or they're too tight and you get that extra layer of flesh just bulging out.'' Then there's all that readjusting. "The brides do this thing where they grab the top of the dress with their thumbs, pull it up and then do this hip shaking thing,'' Smith says. This activity does not a good picture make. And besides, she continues, "strapless gowns are boring.'' Through her lens, Smith says she'd rather see a dress with a beautiful sash or intricate lace or embroidery. "A strapless gown is not very playful, individual or different.''

Night Photography
During the last few months we took a couple film photography classes at school. During the course of that class, we learned something about night photography, and Molly has become interested in this subject. Here is some of her recent work.

A night self portrait of Molly and Jay Maris. This was taken as our one year anniversary photo. The idea was inspired by the photos taken in the movie "A Lot Like Love."

Whitehouse Wedding
Just wanted to post this photo here because I love this photo of Jon and Mary. They look SO happy. Jay took this at their wedding last November and then edited it when we came home from Louisiana. Mary is really into the whole black and white with a little color type of photographs.

...and some more wedding photos from Jon and Mary's wedding.
